I am frequently getting queries from my friends to suggest interesting places and todo list for Kuala Lumpur and nearby places. Yeah, sometimes people won’t get satisfied with google answers. So just created a quick list with some short description; of course still with help of google and my own suggestions. Here we go.

For better travel experience, plan well and early. Read this article for some tips.

Malaysia is one of the dream destination, especially for all those โ€œbudgetโ€ travellers. From awesome islands to beaches, from glitzy city lifestyle to shopping experiences, from cheerful nightlife to hangouts, Malaysia will give you a unique traveling experience.

Kuala Lumpur is one of the major shoppingย  paradise in Asia with a large number of shopping malls and hangouts. During my early days here, I used to google for “interesting thing to do in KL” and yeah, it’s damn difficult to choose “our interests” from the list. Some people are interested in shopping, some are coming for experiencing new tastes, for activities like amusement parks and also for experiencing the awesome nightlife. Let’s see what are the major places of interests in and nearby Kuala Lumpur.

What to do ?

Visit Petronas Twin Tower

Experience the awesome view of Petronas Twin Tower view around the building. Take some snaps with Towers in background and post in facebook :). Want to enter into the tower and enjoy skyview of the KL City from Tower ? You can, ย buy RM90++ ticket to enter sky bridge/ Observation Deck. Book online as it will be difficult to get tickets which is limited to first come first serve basis. Select date and schedule and check availability. ย visit eticket.petronastwintowers.com.my. Also there is a good park and children’s pool.

Enjoy Aquaria KLCC

Located very near to Petronas Tower, Aquaria KLCC is a good place where both children and adults can enjoy. You may check more details from here.

KL Tower/Menara KL – Check how beautiful the City is

Another tower in KL, near Bukit Bintang area. Entry ticket can buy at Tower entrance (RM65++) and you can spend hours there. Check here for ticket and other rates. Also there is a revolving restaurant on top of tower, where you can experience a high-dine.

Bukit Bintang – Street food and Street Shopping

Also named as Jalan Alor Food Street, Bukit Bintang is one of the great choice for street food in Malaysia. You can enjoy sea food, local food, Thailand style, Chinese style and in different styles. Remember to try Satay sticks which is available with Chicken, Mutton, Lamp, fish, vegetables etc.

Shopping in KualaLumpur

More time and money to spend ? You have a lot of Shopping malls like Midvalley Megamall, Pavillion, SOGO KL, Paradigm Mall, Time Square, Digi Mall etc. Please see the full list here. Also Petaling Street aka Chinatown, Masjid India, Bukit Bintang are great for street shopping.

Changkat Bukit Bintang

One of the major places for Nightlife in Kuala Lumpur. You got a lot of choices for Western & Asian pubs here with resto-bars, DJ pubs etc.

Batu Caves – 272 Steps of Divine

Feel the 272 Steps of divine from the this Temple with World’s Largest Murugan Statue.

Genting Highlands

50+ Kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. ย You can book Bus+Cable Car (20+ minutes in cable car) returns tickets from KL Sentral. Always book return tickets as it is difficult to get tickets back to KL.

KualaLumpur Bird Park

Check time and tickets here and make sure you can cover the birds show, birds feeding activities etc as more than 3,000 birds are here atย the world’s largest free-flight, walk-in aviary. No limit in tickets.

Zoo Negara/National Zoo

Average zoo as we visited last time and not felt worth for RM 50. Hopefully renovation completed and more animals now.

Little India, Brickfields

Visit Little India, for Indian specialty shops, South Indian food outlets and also temples.

  • Sri Mahamariamman kovil (Malaysiaโ€™s oldest functioning Hindu temple)
  • National Museum
  • Merdeka Square
  • Thean Hou Temple (Chinese Temple)
  • Masjid Jamek (Indian Shops and Market)
